Donut Falls

Last weekend we went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to go on a little hike up to Donut Falls. It was perfect weather and the trail was easy, only 1/2 mile. We were able to eat lunch right next to the river where afterwards Jon showed the boys how to use his hand pump water filter. The boys thought it was pretty cool to drink the river water. It was probably clean enough to drink anyway but the boys had fun and Elora had a blast throwing rocks in the river.

On our way home we drove by an old couple who had a flat tire. Jon pulled off to help them. He is such a sweetie and a great example to the kids who loved watching Daddy in action. Jon had the tire changed in minutes. The old lady told Jon that she is so glad that there are still nice people out there like him. I am glad I am married to one of those nice people! Jon is one of those quiet compassionate types. He just sent in a test kit that will see if he is a bone marrow match. He keeps getting a feeling that he should do this and I support his decision. I love this guy so much.

First Day of 3rd Grade

Our Tyler is back in school now. I was not ready for the routine but it has been good. We love, love, love his teacher Ms. Dietz. Tyler has come home every day telling me how nice she is. He is already learning cursive and so much more. Good luck big guy.

Hogle Zoo

We went to the zoo since there were only a couple of days left until school started. We had a good time seeing all the animals, especially the babies.

One of the elephants had a baby a couple of weeks ago but it was still bonding with mom so we couldn't see it.

2009 Truck Show

We decided to take the boys this weekend to the truck show at Thanksgiving point. I was always around trucks when I was little because my dad was a truck driver and I always thought they were so big and cool. Jon being a mechanic on big trucks thinks they are pretty cool too so we thought that the boys would enjoy checking some out.

What a Deal

I scored a major deal today at Rite Aid.

I paid $20.93 using coupons.

I will receive $25.76 in a rebate check from Rite Aid.
That means that they paid me $4.83 for all of this...
1 roll of packing tape
2 packs of Bic pens
1 bag of candy
1 tube of Crest toothpaste
1 box of Hair dye (wish me luck, I have never done it before)
1 box containing 2 bottles of lens solution (no I don't wear contacts)
1 2pk of light bulbs
1 bottle of Tag body spray for Jon
1 Gillette fusion razor
and
1 box of gas relief tabs

Other Summertime Fun

Other fun things we have done this summer.

We went to the Monte L. Bean Museum at BYU. They have so many stuffed animals it is amazing. It is really awesome to see them close up. If they were alive we wouldn't be able to.

While on the BYU campus we went to the museum of Paleontology. Very small but it had some cool stuff.
We went to the Thanksgiving Point Dinosaur museum on $2 buck Tuesday. I spontaneously took the kids at 6:30 pm thinking it might not be so crowded but unfortunately I was wrong. At least it gave the boys something to do.

Our neighborhood had a block party. Lots of fun, food and kids playing. It was called "Ham on Rye"because it was at the park across from our house and the street on the other side is Rye Drive. I think it will be an annual tradition.

We also went to the Lehi outdoor pool for the first time. We had so much fun on the slide, at least Tiffany and I did. We ditched the kids (left them with dad) and made a couple of runs kid free. Next time I will try to take Elora. She loved the water.

So with just a couple of more weeks of summer left, we will see what else we can squeeze in.

No Training Wheels

Degan almost has the hang of riding without training wheels. He does a great job riding and even stopping but starting is hard and he needs to build up his confidence. What a cute big boy!
